FAQ

AP aging report questions

What people ask before they connect their books.

It lists every unpaid bill you owe suppliers, grouped by supplier and by how long it's been unpaid. It shows who you owe, how much, and what's overdue.
It's how long your unpaid bills have been waiting. Each bill sits in a column for its days past due, from not yet due to over 90 days.
How much you owe each supplier, split into columns by days past due. Most reports use not yet due, 1 to 30 days, 31 to 60 days, 61 to 90 days, and over 90 days.
List every unpaid bill with its due date. Take off any vendor credits. Work out how many days past due each bill is. Then add up each supplier's bills in each column.
They're the columns of the report, each a range of days past due. The usual ones are 1 to 30, 31 to 60, 61 to 90, and over 90 days. You can ask for different ranges, like 0 to 15 days.
Start with the total, then look right. Bills in the later columns have waited longest, so those suppliers come first.
Most of what you owe sits in the first column, and very little is over 60 days late. In the sample business, 78% isn't due yet, and nothing is over 90 days.
It's another name for the same report. Xero calls it Aged Payables, and you'll see the term often in the UK and Australia.
AP aging shows the bills you owe suppliers. AR aging shows the invoices customers owe you. You'll find that on our accounts receivable aging page.
Yes, as a prompt. A template prompt tells Claude or ChatGPT which bills to pull from your books, and how to lay out the report. Use the same one every month, and everyone gets the same layout.
Weekly, before you plan payments. Monthly at the least, after the books are up to date.
Finance teams use it to plan payments. Operations leads, project managers and purchasing teams check it before they talk to a supplier.
Yes, once it can see your books. Connected through Kipper, it reads your unpaid bills from QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite, read-only. Then it sorts them by days past due and adds up each supplier.
QuickBooks, Xero and NetSuite. Bills, suppliers, payments and vendor credits come from all three.
Payments stay in your accounting system. Kipper is read-only by architecture: it returns records and reports, so every payment and approval stays with your team.
