QuickBooks + SMS

Text QuickBooks a question from any phone

Ask whether an invoice is paid or what is owed to a vendor by sending a text. Answers come back from your live QuickBooks records in seconds — no QuickBooks login for the person asking, and nothing to install.

Kipper answers QuickBooks questions over plain SMS. An admin connects QuickBooks once, registers the phone numbers that should have access, and scopes what each one can ask about. The user then texts a question in plain English to your dedicated Kipper number and gets an answer from your QuickBooks records: customers, invoices, payments, line items, vendors, bills, bill payments, inventory, credit memos, vendor credits, and purchase orders. Webhooks keep new payments and invoice changes current, Class is the grouping field on a total, and access is read-only with every text logged.

Kipper lets anyone text a question about QuickBooks data and get a real answer in seconds. The person asking needs no QuickBooks login and no app — only a phone number an admin has registered. Access is read-only, permissions are enforced per number, and Kipper only ever replies to a text you send it.

What your team can ask

What people text QuickBooks about

Invoice status, vendor bills, and item counts, asked from wherever the person actually is.

"Has invoice 1042 for Bright Harbor been paid?"

Sales rep checking during a customer visit

"Unpaid bills for vendor Summit Janitorial this month?"

Office coordinator away from the desk

"How many units of item SKU-140 do we have?"

Store manager on the sales floor

Who it's for

Who texts QuickBooks instead of asking finance

Field service technician

Text to check whether a customer's invoice is still open before starting the next job, without a QuickBooks login.

Sales representative

Confirm a customer's open invoice balance mid-visit by text, instead of calling the office to have someone look it up.

Delivery driver

Ask whether an invoice was already paid before handing over a copy at the door.

Office coordinator away from the desk

Text for unpaid bills for a vendor this month rather than getting back to a computer to open QuickBooks.

Owner or executive traveling

Text for total open AR by customer and get the number in seconds, faster than opening QuickBooks on a phone browser.

SaaS support lead

Before escalating an account, text to check whether it has an invoice past due and how long it has been outstanding.

Retail store manager

Text for inventory on a fast-moving item and which purchase orders for it have already been billed, from the sales floor.

How it works

How SMS gets connected to QuickBooks

Connect QuickBooks, scope each number, register the phones, and the team starts texting.

01

Connect QuickBooks

A QuickBooks admin authorizes Kipper. Access is read-only, so Kipper cannot edit invoices or bills.

02

Scope what each number can ask

Permission sets decide what a given phone number can see — AR for sales, inventory for the store, everything for the owner.

03

Register the phone numbers

An admin adds a number in the Kipper portal. The user gets a one-time confirmation text and replies to confirm. That is the entire onboarding.

04

Text a question

The user texts your dedicated Kipper number in plain English and the answer comes back in seconds, sourced from live QuickBooks data.

How Kipper handles access

Read-only. Permissioned. Logged.

  • Kipper never creates, updates, or deletes QuickBooks records.
  • You choose what each user or team can see.
  • Every question is written to an audit log.
  • Pricing is the same on every interface. See plans.

FAQ

QuickBooks over SMS

Webhook freshness, permission scopes, lost phones, and what SMS cannot answer.

No. A QuickBooks admin connects once and everyone else simply texts. That matters even though QuickBooks seats are inexpensive, because QuickBooks permission scoping is limited and QuickBooks does not reach a phone by text on its own.
Customers, invoices, payments, line items, vendors, bills, bill payments, inventory, credit memos, vendor credits, and purchase orders. Grouping uses Class.
Webhooks push invoice, payment, and bill changes from QuickBooks to Kipper, so updates are typically available within minutes of being entered.
No. Only phone numbers an admin has registered are answered. An unregistered number gets a polite refusal, never your AR balance.
An admin deactivates the number in the portal and the next text from it stops being answered immediately. The audit log keeps the prior history — you keep the record, the phone loses the access.
No. Kipper only replies to a text you send it. There are no unprompted messages, and our number is registered for A2P 10DLC messaging in the US.
Anything outside the record types above. Kipper does not do P&L or balance sheet reporting, journal entries, account reconciliation, cash flow statements, or budget-versus-actual variance. It answers direct questions about your records rather than analyzing them.
