Is there an MCP server for Xero?
Yes. There are two main routes. Xero publishes an official open-source MCP server on GitHub, which a developer runs locally with a Xero Developer app, Custom Connection credentials, and a Node.js build. You're a developer comfortable with the Xero Developer Portal, Custom Connections, and OAuth scopes, you want free and open source, and you're building or testing on your own machine. Built on a synced copy, not API round-trips.
Xero's API is shaped for product access — per-endpoint calls, pagination, one tenant at a time. Standard requests handle standard questions, but combining records across receivables, payables, and purchasing forces an AI to stitch multiple calls together and do the math itself, which is where wrong answers creep in.
Kipper answers from a synced, change-fed copy of your supported Xero records instead. Cross-record lookups and breakdowns become single queries against complete records, which is why answers come back in about five seconds, with the actual figures.
