NetSuite + Slack

NetSuite answers without leaving Slack

Most of these end up as a message to someone with NetSuite open. This answers them where the question was asked.

Kipper reads customers, vendors, invoices, payments, sales orders, purchase orders, vendor bills, credit memos, vendor credits, items, quantity on hand, bills of materials and quotes, plus supported financial reports and report lines: the Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statement. Totals can be grouped by Class or Department, and you choose which subsidiaries are in scope when you connect.

Kipper connects NetSuite to Slack so people who do not work in NetSuite can ask about orders, stock and invoices in plain English. A NetSuite administrator makes the connection once through an OAuth integration record, chooses which subsidiaries to include, and from then on answers arrive in the channel. Access is strictly read-only, every answer is scoped to the permissions of the person who asked, and each request is logged.

No NetSuite login for anyone who only needs to look

Read-only, so nothing in the ERP can be changed

Scoped to the subsidiaries you selected

Answers respect the asker's own permissions

Not the same category

An integration platform moves records between NetSuite and Slack. This one only answers questions.

Celigo, Workato and the rest are integration platforms. They sync records, run approvals and automate processes, which is real work that costs real money and usually needs a project behind it. What each flow reports is decided the day it is built. Kipper is not in that category and is not priced like it. Nothing is configured ahead of time, because the question is whatever somebody types.

Integration platforms

Celigo, Workato, Zapier, Integrate.io

  • Records are synced or pushed between systems
  • Flows are built, then maintained by somebody
  • Good for: approvals, order automation, alerts
  • Scoped and priced like a project

Kipper

Read-only question answering

  • Somebody asks, Kipper reads NetSuite and answers
  • Nothing is synced into Slack or automated
  • Good for: what is the stock, is it shipped, is it paid
  • Priced per person who actually asks

What your team can ask

What a Slack channel asks NetSuite

The lookups that would otherwise become a message to whoever works in NetSuite.

"Has the Altamont Industrial sales order shipped?"

Account executive before a customer call

"Stock on hand for SKU-7703 at the Denver location?"

Warehouse picker confirming a pick

"Does Brightline Medical have invoices over 60 days?"

Support agent before escalating

"What is on the bill of materials for assembly A-220?"

Production lead checking a build

"Which purchase orders for Cordova Foods are still open?"

Replenishment planner before reordering

"What did we quote Stellar Components last month?"

Account executive picking up a deal

"Any vendor credits outstanding with Waypoint Logistics?"

Operations checking a carrier account

"Total invoiced for Department West last quarter?"

Regional lead checking their own numbers

"Which bills from Halvorsen Freight are still unpaid?"

Procurement coordinator before placing a new order

Who it's for

Who asks NetSuite from Slack

Warehouse picker

Check stock on hand for a SKU at a specific location without walking to a terminal or asking operations.

Account executive

Confirm whether a sales order has shipped before getting on a call with the customer.

Support agent

Find out where an order stands mid-ticket instead of escalating it to somebody who works in NetSuite.

Field service technician

Check a part's availability and the customer's open invoices from the van.

Replenishment planner

Compare stock on hand against the purchase orders already raised for the same item.

Executive between meetings

Get one figure without navigating an ERP they were given access to but never learned.

Pricing

$25 a month for each extra person who asks

NetSuite plans start at $1,000 a month with 20 active users included, then $25 for each additional active user. Billing follows the people who actually ask a question that month, so a quiet month costs less.

  • 2,000 questions a month included
  • Free 14-day trial with 100 questions
  • No credit card required to start
  • Month to month, no long-term commitment

How it works

How to connect NetSuite to Slack

NetSuite needs a proper integration record rather than a single click, which is normal for an ERP. Budget twenty minutes for the first two steps.

01

Turn on OAuth in NetSuite

Under Setup, Company, Enable Features, switch on OAuth 2.0 in SuiteCloud. Then create an integration record using the Authorization Code Grant with the REST Web Services scope.

02

Connect it in Kipper

Paste the Account ID, Client ID and Client Secret into Data Sources and approve the connection in NetSuite. The approving user needs a role with REST Web Services access.

03

Choose your subsidiaries

Pick one or more in the Configure Subsidiary dialog, and only those are in scope. Sandbox accounts are recognised on their own, so a test connection stays a test connection.

04

Add Slack, then your people

Add Slack for NetSuite from Interfaces and let a workspace admin approve it. Invite people with the email address they use in Slack and give each one a permission set.

We'll do the setup with you.

A 30-minute session: connect NetSuite, add Slack, and set who can see what. Free, no commitment.

Straight answer

What Kipper will not do

Worth knowing before you book a call, so nothing here is a surprise later.

Write to NetSuite. Nothing is ever created, edited or deleted.

Run a general-ledger workflow or journal-entry review.

Roll figures up across subsidiaries or consolidate them.

React the instant something changes, because NetSuite does not send change notifications.

Replace NetSuite for anybody who needs to create or edit records.

Skip the integration record. NetSuite requires one to be created.

How Kipper handles access

Read-only. Permissioned. Logged.

  • Kipper never creates, updates, or deletes NetSuite records.
  • You choose what each user or team can see.
  • Every question is written to an audit log.
  • Pricing is the same on every interface. See plans.

FAQ

NetSuite in Slack

Access, the integration record, subsidiaries, and how often records refresh.

No. One administrator makes the connection and decides who is allowed to ask from Slack. This is not about taking anything away from NetSuite, which stays the system of record and the place the work happens. It is that warehouse, support and field staff who need an occasional figure were never going to be provisioned and trained as ERP users in the first place.
NetSuite does not send change notifications the way QuickBooks and Xero do, so everything arrives on a schedule instead. Kipper pulls changed records every 15 minutes and re-pulls the full data set once a week, early on Saturday morning UTC.
It scales with how much data you have. A small account is quick; a large one can take several hours before everything is queryable. It runs once, in the background, and you are told when it is done.
Yes. After you approve the connection, the Configure Subsidiary dialog asks which subsidiaries to include, and Kipper only reads the ones you choose. Everything outside that selection stays invisible.
Because NetSuite is an ERP and treats external access as something an administrator configures deliberately. You enable OAuth 2.0 under SuiteCloud, create the integration record, and paste three values into Kipper. It is more work than a consumer OAuth screen, and it is the same work any NetSuite integration requires.
Yes, and Kipper recognises a sandbox account automatically rather than making you flag it. That makes it straightforward to try the connection against test data before pointing it at production.
Customers, vendors, invoices, payments, sales orders, purchase orders, vendor bills, credit memos, vendor credits, items, quantity on hand, bills of materials and quotes, plus supported financial reports and report lines: the Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statement. Totals can be grouped by Class or Department.
Yes, if it is a supported report NetSuite has already produced, such as the P&L, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance or Cash Flow statement. What Kipper does not do is run the finance workflow behind those reports, review journal entries, or consolidate figures across subsidiaries.
