Intuit publishes a QuickBooks app for ChatGPT and it answers questions well. Its own examples include open invoices, this year's profit and loss, who is on payroll and what an employee was paid. It is also a built-in app, so there is less to set up. The catch is who it will answer: it needs an active QuickBooks Online account, asks each person to sign in with theirs, and is limited to the United States today. That is the line between the two.

How to connect QuickBooks to ChatGPT
One person does the QuickBooks side once. The ChatGPT side follows OpenAI's own steps and takes a couple of minutes.
Connect QuickBooks in Kipper
An administrator signs in with Intuit and grants read-only access once. That is the whole QuickBooks side, and nobody else repeats it.
Turn on developer mode in ChatGPT
Open Settings, then Security and login, then switch on Developer mode. OpenAI notes that its availability can depend on your account and workspace policy.
Add Kipper as a connection
Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, press the plus button, give it a name, then paste the MCP server URL from your Kipper workspace under Connection.
Ask in the thread
Type the question. ChatGPT calls Kipper, and the figure in the reply is read out of your own records.
