NetSuite + Microsoft Teams

Ask NetSuite from a Microsoft Teams channel

The people who need a figure from NetSuite are rarely the ones licensed to open it. They can ask in the channel instead.

Kipper adds a Microsoft Teams app that reads your NetSuite account and replies in the channel. A NetSuite administrator creates an OAuth integration record and picks which subsidiaries are in scope. A Microsoft 365 administrator approves the app for your tenant. After that anyone you have set up mentions Kipper in a channel, or opens it from the Apps tray, and gets a read-only answer in the same thread, including supported financial reports and report lines: the Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statement.

Microsoft Teams has no native NetSuite app, so Kipper supplies one. Mention it in a channel and it reads your NetSuite records and answers in the thread. Setup takes a NetSuite integration record and one approval from your Microsoft 365 administrator.

No NetSuite login or training for people who live in Microsoft 365

One approval from your M365 admin, not an install per person

Read-only, so nothing in the ERP can be changed from Teams

Answers respect the permission level of whoever asked

No native app exists

Everything else in this category is a workflow you design. This is an app you ask.

Search for a way to join these two and you find automation platforms: Power Automate on OAuth 1.0, Workato's Workbot, Workativ, Mazaal. They are built to move records and fire approvals, which means somebody maps the fields, settles in advance what each flow will report, and then owns it. Kipper does none of that. There is no flow, and the question is whatever somebody types that day.

Workflow automation tools

Power Automate, Workato, Workativ, Mazaal

  • You map fields between the two systems
  • Each use case is a flow somebody designs
  • Good for: approvals, alerts, creating records
  • Once built, it has to be maintained

Kipper

A Teams app you ask

  • Nothing to map and no flow to design
  • Someone mentions Kipper and gets a reply
  • Good for: is it in stock, did it ship, was it paid
  • Read-only, so there is nothing to break

What your team can ask

What a Teams channel asks NetSuite

Questions that currently get typed at a colleague who happens to have NetSuite open.

"Do we have enough SKU-9011 to fill SO-22018?"

Production planner before committing a date

"Is quote Q-4410 still pending for Vantage Orthopedics?"

Inside sales checking a deal

"Which open sales orders ship to Ohio this week?"

Distribution channel planning the week

"Has Kestrel Foods paid invoice INV-8842 yet?"

Field service dispatcher before a site visit

"What purchase orders are still open with Redwood Freight?"

Receiving lead checking a delivery

"How much have we invoiced Northgate Utilities this quarter?"

Project manager in a client channel

"Which credit memos are outstanding for Palomar Systems?"

Customer service lead on a complaint

"Quantity on hand for SKU-3120 at the Reno location?"

Planner checking a second warehouse

"Are there vendor bills from Ashfield Components awaiting payment?"

Operations checking a supplier account

Who it's for

Who asks from a Teams channel

Production planner

Confirm the quantity on hand covers an order before committing a build date in the plant channel.

Field service dispatcher

Check whether a customer's last invoice cleared before sending a technician out.

Inside sales

See whether a quote is still open, without leaving the deal conversation to go and find out.

Receiving lead

When a delivery lands, check which purchase orders for that vendor are still outstanding.

Project manager

Pull what has been invoiced to a client so far, in the channel where the project is being run.

Customer service lead

Answer a where-is-my-order question in the support channel rather than escalating it.

Pricing

$25 a month for each extra person who asks

NetSuite plans start at $1,000 a month with 20 active users included, then $25 for each additional active user. Billing follows the people who actually ask a question that month, so a quiet month costs less.

  • 2,000 questions a month included
  • Free 14-day trial with 100 questions
  • No credit card required to start
  • Month to month, no long-term commitment

How it works

How to connect NetSuite to Microsoft Teams

Two administrators are involved once, on opposite sides. Nobody else has to set anything up.

01

Create the integration record in NetSuite

Setup, Integration, Manage Integrations, New. Choose Authorization Code Grant, tick the REST Web Services scope, leave token-based authentication unticked, and set the redirect URI exactly as Kipper shows it. NetSuite displays the Client ID and Client Secret once only.

02

Connect and choose subsidiaries

Paste the Account ID, Client ID and Client Secret into Data Sources in Kipper and approve in NetSuite. Kipper lists your active subsidiaries and pulls nothing at all until you pick which ones are in scope. Sandbox accounts are recognised from the ID.

03

Get Microsoft 365 consent

Under Interfaces, add the NetSuite Teams connector. Approve it yourself if you administer the tenant, or have Kipper send the consent link to whoever does.

04

Ask in a channel

Once the app is in your tenant, mention Kipper in any channel or open it from the Apps tray. Replies land in the same thread. Everyone asking uses the same email address in Teams as on their Kipper profile.

We'll do the setup with you.

A 30-minute session: connect NetSuite, add Microsoft Teams, and set who can see what. Free, no commitment.

Straight answer

What Kipper will not do

Worth knowing before you book a call, so nothing here is a surprise later.

Write anything back. Kipper holds read access and nothing more.

Run a general-ledger workflow or journal-entry review.

Combine two subsidiaries into a single consolidated figure.

Calculate ratios, build budgets or run a finance workflow.

Hide a channel reply. It is computed for the asker, but the channel can read it.

Run two Teams connectors in one workspace, or span two Microsoft 365 tenants.

How Kipper handles access

Read-only. Permissioned. Logged.

  • Kipper never creates, updates, or deletes NetSuite records.
  • You choose what each user or team can see.
  • Every question is written to an audit log.
  • Pricing is the same on every interface. See plans.

FAQ

NetSuite in Microsoft Teams

Admin consent, the app install, who can read a reply, and how current the data is.

No, and that is why this exists. Microsoft and Oracle never shipped one between them, so the established answers are all automation platforms where you design a flow and map fields. Kipper is a Teams app instead, and the only thing it does is read NetSuite and reply to a question.
Permission for the Kipper app to operate in your tenant, granted once. Kipper asks whether you can approve apps yourself. If you can, you do it on the spot. If you cannot, Kipper sends your administrator a link that works for seven days, and only one such link is active per workspace at a time. Nobody in the channels needs to install anything.
Yes, and it is worth being deliberate about. Every answer is computed against the permission level of the person who asked, so nobody sees records they are not entitled to. But a reply posted in a channel is readable by everyone in that channel, exactly like any other message there. Use a direct chat with Kipper for anything you would not post in the channel yourself.
Anything held on a record Kipper reads. That covers items and quantity on hand, sales orders and quotes, purchase orders and vendor bills, invoices, payments, credit memos and vendor credits, plus the customers and vendors attached to them, and bills of materials. Supported financial reports and report lines are available too: the Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statement. Class and Department both work as groupings. What it will not reach is journal-entry workflows, general-ledger review, or figures combined across subsidiaries.
NetSuite does not push notifications when something changes, so Kipper pulls. Changed records come across every fifteen minutes, and a full re-pull runs weekly on Saturday morning. The very first sync scales with how much history you have and a large account can take several hours.
No. Two administrators do the setup once, on opposite sides, and everyone you then set up in Kipper works from Teams alone. NetSuite stays where the work is done and the records live. This is for the colleagues around that work who need a figure from it occasionally.
